Algebra 2 Skills
Content Skill: Rewriting logarithmic functions as exponential functions & vice versa
Exploration 16 was one of the biggest assignments that helped me understand logarithms and logarithmic properties. One, for instance, being the base of a logarithm. Also learning of, and how to use, Euler's number in logarithms was solidified with this assignment and the following seminar. POW 7 (Problem of the week) was when I was really able to demonstrate my understanding of all we had learned on logarithms. Within POW 7 we were tasked with using the process of rewriting logarithms and exponential equations to find out various value pertaining to earthquakes. In doing this I proved that I not only understood the concepts within logarithms, but that I am able to apply these techniques and skills to problems to get an accurate answer.
Problem Solving Skill: Formulating a Plan
One of the Habits of a Mathematician is formulating a plan. Being able to accurately anticipate and map out each step you need to take to reach your final goal. When we began doing POWs at the beginning of the year, it was difficult for me to do this, but through practice and some guidance, I have improved my planning skills, which allows for quick completion of problems and allows you not to get lost while doing numerous equations. Evidence of this can be seen by looking at the planning of POW 4, and then at POW 7.

Spreadsheet Workshop
This was the first project in Algebra II this year. In this project we learned some basic and intermediate skills and techniques usable in spreadsheets. A few of these where learning how to format and wrap text, create equations, and making calculators for specific scenarios such as discounts or highway grade.
